Focused on OUR Priorities.
What Noel Smith is fighting for.
It saddens me to say there are some people in positions of power and influence who are not as passionate as we are. To see these people repeatedly ignore the needs of our community saddens me to have to say that our right to have a County Council, which functions properly for the people is being undermined by those whose priorities so obviously lay elsewhere.
I have to tell you that as a member of this community, I have real concerns about the future of our District. . . I’ve seen the results of the negligent way in which past leaders have dealt with the County’s issues. And you have, too.
In the past 4 years, there’s been no significant development at all in our District, despite the huge amounts of money that have been released into the budget and a continuous increase in our taxes. The fact of the matter is that the leader appointed to propel this District forward has instead abandoned it completely and left us all wondering why it is that our community has been left to fall apart at the very seams. I for one, cannot stand to see the continued disintegration of our District due to the disrespectful and blasé attitude of those whom we are compelled to rely on.
It WILL continue to happen unless we do something about it.
And with your help, that’s exactly what I intend to do.
Those of you who know me well, know that I have the knowledge, skills, and aptitude to not only take the job on but also get the job done.
My background and experience are varied and my skillset comprehensive.
In terms of the military and my role in service:
I served as a US Navy Hospital Corpsman for the US Marine Corps from June 1992 to June 1996 with 3rd Battalion First Marines Weapons Company and earned a Combat Action Ribbon during my time in Somalia in 1995.
In 1998, I enlisted in the US Army Practical Nursing Program at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington , DC and graduated 18 months later as a 91-C LPN. I then spent two years in the Army reserves. These tasks were not easy, but I knew that I had to be at the forefront to serve and protect others, which prepared me in a big way for the task ahead of me as a Councilor.
I have a strong business background which is essential for any modern day Council member who is serious about creating meaningful, long-lasting change.
My past experiences in the military and business have taught me how to make quick decisions, to create and build relationships, to make actionable, attainable, and measurable goals. They’ve nurtured my integrity, endurance, and perseverance. Most importantly, they’ve shown me time and time again how to work with and for a winning team.
I believe that if we stand together, that’s EXACTLY what we are.
I can assure you I am ready and able to fight for you and with you in order to defend AND lead District 2.
