I have dedicated my career to serving my country, my community and those most in need. Now, I’m running for County Council to represent and serve the residents and families of Glen Burnie.

To those of you who know me hello again. For those of you who don’t, my name is Noel Smith and I am running for County Council of the 2nd District.
Standing for the County Council seat this year is my way of giving back more to the community I love. . . As a former member of the military, 6 years active duty and 2 in the reserves. I learned a lot about leadership, accountability, sticking to a budget and the need to work together to protect and nurture the things that we value, things that we believe in, and things that we hold dear. There’s nothing that I hold dearer than this County and the people who live in it.
I have dedicated my career to serving my country, my community and those most in need. Now, I’m running for County Council to represent and serve the residents and families of Glen Burnie.
I joined the U.S. Navy in June of 1992 as a Hospital Corpsman. Following extensive training at Corps school, I was stationed at Camp Pendleton and volunteered to serve as a field medic with the U.S. Marine Corps in Iraq, Kuwait and Somalia. As a combat veteran, I was proud to earn numerous honors, awards and medals for my distinguished service during these tours.
Later, I went on to serve in the U.S. Army as a Licensed Practical Nurse and was stationed for a time at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Throughout my life, I have wanted to help others and my service in the medical field provided me the opportunity to fulfill this goal while helping many fellow soldiers and civilians.
Today, I am honored to be a coach and mentor to many children and adults as the owner and operator of Noel Smith Jiu-Jitsu & Fitness in Glen Burnie.
I made my way to Maryland in 1998. I’ve now lived here in Anne Arundel County for the last 17 years and they’ve been some of the happiest years of my life.
Being happy is important to me, I’m sure it’s important to you too. But to be happy, we need to be PHYSICALLY healthy, MENTALLY healthy, both of which I advocate as a nurse, and the owner of a martial arts school right here in District 2. By being involved in these areas not only can I promote healthy living, but I can also serve others. It’s what I’ve always done, and what I love to do.
My aim right now is to serve, to the VERY FULLEST, each of you in this incredible community. I promise to do so in the same way that I served our great nation: with PRIDE, with PASSION, and with PURPOSE.
“If given the honor to serve once more, my aim is to serve, to the VERY FULLEST, each of you in this incredible community. I promise to do so in the same way that I served our great nation: with PRIDE, with PASSION, and with PURPOSE.”
